Boundary
A Boundary Survey involves locating and marking the property corners and generating a plat map which shows the property lines, items crossing any property lines, and information about the property.
physical improvements
A Physical Improvements Survey (sometimes referred to as a House Location Survey) will provide a plat map showing the location of all physical improvements (buildings, fences, etc.) on a property and is often needed for building permit applications, such as for a deck.
Property line stakeout
A quintessential service provided by a Land Surveyor is to mark the property lines of a parcel of land, typically with wooden stakes. A Property Line Stakeout will show the location of those lines on the ground and serve as a guide for installing fences, driveways, landscaping, sheds, etc.
